SensationStations designs and builds therapeutic gyms for children with Sensory Processing Disorders (SPD). Our customized products are a safe, convenient way to provide the continuum of care from the clinic to the home for children with proprioceptive and vestibular sensitivities. With accessibility to an appropriate sensory diet, those affected by sensory integration disorders are able to self-regulate. The “bible” for parents of children with sensory processing disorders is The Out-of-Sync Child by Carol Stock Kranowitz. According to Kranowitz, parents can help their children with SPD by stimulating them with sensory experiences such as:
- Alerting – bouncing on balls or jumping
- Organizing – hanging from bars or playing catch
- Calming – rocking on swings or sitting in a hammock
